Who Needs A Life Coach?

As per Bill Gates, “everyone needs a coach!” He further elaborates that, “ It doesn’t matter whether you are a basket ball player, a tennis player, a gymnast or a bridge player.”

Life Coaching is a fairly new career but the concept of coaching has been around since time immemorial. An athlete, for example will do far better under the guidance of a sports coach than he could ever on his own. The coach will help the athlete reach levels of performance that may not be possible otherwise. Similarly corporations hire consultants to help troubleshoot or streamline operations when things are not going as per plan. In this scenario, the sports coach and the consultants are experts in their respective fields.

However, a Life Coach need not be an expert in a particular vocation.

A Life Coach will help you move forward in life and find fulfillment, success and happiness. Life Coaches help individuals identify and tackle obstacles on their path to achieving a goal or a change. They also guide individuals through a transition, such as finding a new career, or starting a new relationship. A Life Coach can be called a “change facilitator” or a “courage catalyst”. They will not tell you what to do, will not give you advice nor teach you how to do things one way or the other.

A Life Coach will focus on your future, rather than dealing with your past. While they may offer you suggestions, new ideas or action steps, they are not advice-givers. Instead, they will listen to you and ask you the right questions to help you find your path, your truth and your answers. Then they will help you align your life with who you are and what you want.

However, the most important question is:

Are you coachable? Are you ready to take responsibility for your actions? Are you ready to really work hard in achieving what you want? Are you ready to hear the truth and handle criticism? Do you dream big and want to achieve those dreams? Do you want more success than you already have?

If the answer to most of the questions above is a resounding “yes”, then you need a Life Coach!
